LONGPARISH HOUSING NEEDS SURVEY 2001
If you live in Longparish you will receive with Hill & Valley this month a copy of a Housing Needs survey and a slip to fill in if you would like to receive a form to join the Housing Register. Those who deliver the magazine have kindly agreed to deliver them for the Parish Council and it is hoped that every household will fill the survey in and return it to Test Valley in the prepaid envelope provided by the 28th October (the forms say 28th September but they arrived too late to be delivered with the last Hill & Valley). If you need another form, please contact Mary Jo Darrah 720320.
Some will remember that a survey was done in 1987 and a need was proved for some low-cost houses, but unfortunately no site could be found. This time Test Valley Rural Housing Association hopes to be able to find a site for a few houses for shared ownership or rent if need can be shown. It has a record of success in other villages in Test Valley. The Parish Council is keen to promote low-cost housing, which will help to enable young people to stay in the village and protect the future of our existing services, such as the school, buses, the shop and the pubs. Please make sure that anyone with a local connection as defined in the form who would like to live in the village gets a form to fill in
What were the children in your village doing this
summer?
Some of the children in your village are in 10th Andover (Bourne Valley)
Cubs or Scouts.
In the first week of the holidays they went to a local campsite, Cubs
for 5 days and Scouts for 7 days! The overall theme was Circus skills,
so we learnt to juggle from a visiting juggler, walked the tightrope,
learnt how to play with a diablo and then attended the side shows prepared
by the Scouts for the Cubs. Shooting and archery were taken up at every
opportunity throughout the week with a competition on the last day. There
was a day trip hike to the Gibbet, kite making and flying, a last night
walk in the dark and a midweek trip to Romsey Rapids, which was followed
by a fish and chip supper (a well deserved rest for the cook!) and a visit
from the local Conservative MP ; Sir George Young; not forgetting the
obligatory campfire .All in all a very full programme and fond memories
that will last forever.(we hope!)
If that wasn't enough for the leaders, a week later saw the Scout section
and Leaders taking up a trial Gliding lesson at Shalbourne Soaring Club…
