All the clothes (including underwear), accessories and shoes you no longer want are valuable to someone. They may be last year's fashion, have seen better days, or be just plain worn out - as long as they are clean, somebody, in this country or abroad, wants to wear them again or to recycle the fibre. In Hampshire alone, 6 million pairs of shoes a year end up being buried in the ground - that's an average of 9 pairs per household, and a terrible waste of shoes that could have been of so much use to so many people.
You could take them to a clothing bank - ask your district council Recycling Officer where to find it, or look at www.integra.org.uk/recycling to find a list of the recycling banks in your area.
There are plenty of uses for old clothes, but many of them find their way into the ordinary rubbish bin, and end up in a landfill site, costing us money and damaging the environment as they rot. So please think before you bin - it's not rubbish - recycle it! Take it to your nearest clothing bank.

Longparish Primary School
Congratulations to the school on attaining 'Investors in People' accreditation
following an assessment at the end of January. The Assessor interviewed
everyone working at the school on the day, as well as John Ellicock, Chairman
of Governors.
On January 31st all the children travelled to the Winchester Guildhall for a concert organised by Elizabeth Gotto, accompanied by governor, Jonathan Evans. Teacher Sue Isherwood, and Year five pupil, Ellen Blundell found themselves conducting the orchestra as an unexpected birthday treat!
The older children recently held a Blue Peter Sale at school and raised a magnificent £182.76. Well done!
