Annual Parish Meeting 8th April
Find out the latest on the Longparish Community Project

The annual parish meeting is the time when villagers can hear what the Parish Council has been doing in the previous year, ask questions and raise any matters they wish. This year's meeting will be on Monday 8th April at 7.30 in the Longparish Village Hall.

The formal part of the business will be short to give time for a presentation of the latest on the Longparish Community Project. The project was founded to address three main issues

  1. The village hall is almost a century old and at least a hundred thousand pounds would be needed to repair and refurbish it. Even then we would be left with a fundamentally old fashioned building, badly sited on a dangerous corner.
  2. The two temporary classrooms at the village school are on their last legs. The school is badly in need of a hall and vehicle access needs to be improved.
  3. The Playgroup has to meet in a cramped, ageing Portacabin.

There is a new development which will have a significant impact on how we solve these problems. The school has unexpectedly been advised to bid for funds for a school hall as well as replacement classrooms. This is excellent news. We still need a good new modern village hall but this means that we can explore options other than building between the school and the church. People in Longparish and Hurstbourne Priors can read more in the flyer in this Hill and Valley. Please come to the Parish Meeting to hear about the options open to the school, the playgroup and the village hall and make your views known.

PRAYER FOR CHURCH AND VILLAGE

We are meeting in St Nicholas church once a month, to pray specifically for our church and village - especially for how we at church can best serve our village. This will usually be on the 3rd Monday evening of each month from 8pm to 9-15pm. However, just for April, it will be on the 2nd Monday, April 8th at 8pm. Do come and join us, there is no pressure at all to say anything, or pray out loud - just God's guidance and blessings on our church and village.
