We need plants of all sorts for the May Fayre plant stall.   So if you have a surplus of bedding or can split herbaceous plants please give some.   Seeds and other garden stuff will also be very welcome.   Thanks very much.

Longparish Parish Council

At its April meeting the Parish Council:

•  Thanked the councillors, Ian Bush, Mary Jo Darrah, Chris Dewbury and Gloria Goodliffe, who did not stand for re-election
•  Heard that Peter Jones, Jane Rowland and Robert Streatfield stood for election.   Because there were only 9 candidates for 10 seats on the council   there will be no election and they will be joining the council in May.   That leaves one vacancy for which the council will co-opt a new member.   If you are interested please contact the chairman.
•  Were delighted to hear that the funding bid by the school and playgroup has been accepted
•  Heard that the Village Design Statement has been accepted by TVBC Executive.   It now has to be formally approved by the whole Coouncil in July. The Parish Council decided to publish it as hard copy and on the village website
•  Objected to plans for fencing at 52 North Acre as it is contrary to the newly adopted Village Design Statement
•  Raised no objection to plans for
•  an extension to Orchard House
•  changes of detail to plans for a new house at Juniper House
•  a garage at Meadowsweet
•  a Vodaphone mast on Southside Hill near the existing one
•  tree work at Stream House
•  heard that our Open Government publication scheme has been accepted.   A copy will be put on the website
•  Decided to seek the views of parents to help decide on a new piece of equipment for smaller children using the playground

If you'd like to know more, the minutes are published on our village website www.longparish.org.uk .

The next meeting is the annual parish meeting at 7.30pm on Monday 12 May in the Village Hall committee room.   Our meetings are public and all parishioners are welcome to come and can speak.   The agenda will be on the notice boards at the shop and in Forton a few days before the meeting.    Jeremy Barber Chairman Tel 720459 email jeremy.barber@longparish.org.uk
