REGISTERED COMMON LAND AND OPEN COUNTRY IN LONGPARISH

The Countryside Agency has issued maps in provisional form of registered common land and open country for central southern England.   A copy of the map covering Longparish has been put on the web-site and on the notice board by the shop.   The green parts of the map are registered common land.   The Parish Council has looked at the maps and does not intend to appeal against the inclusion of the land shown as registered common land.   The countryside agency has asked that the maps be made available to parishioners in case anyone with a legal interest in the land wishes to appeal against its inclusion in the register.   If anyone would like a closer look please contact Jeremy Barber on 720459

Historic Churches Walk/Cycle Ride
Saturday, 13 th September 2003

Once again, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Historic Churches Trust cycle or walking escapade is upon us.   This is held annually to raise money to assist the maintenance of our older churches.   Last year 26 churches in the Whitchurch area took part and raised £1,482.90.   One lady from Longparish took up the challenge and raised £170 , of which half was gratefully received by St. Nicholas Church and the other £85 went to the Trust.

Surely there must be some this year who would enjoy cycling round several of the churches , including ours, which will be open between 10am and 6pm on the Saturday and will supply refreshments   of tea, coffee, squash, biscuits etc.   Why not ring me on 720300 to get further information and sponsor forms?   If I am not in, leave your phone number and I will ring you back.

Charity Clay Shoot

168 shooters descended on Owls Lodge Shooting Ground to enjoy a day's sport and raised more than £3000 for Longparish Playgroup's new home which is part of Longparish School's building project.   Many people worked extremely hard to help Richard and Sue Faulds organise it on one of the hottest days of the year.

The Playgroup is very grateful to everyone who made this such a successful day.

Fitness classes are back at the village hall in September !

Have you thought about getting fit but not done anything about it…?

Exercise can make you feel good, by releasing endorphins, the body’s feel-good drug!

What are the benefits of exercise I hear you ask?

Well, as space is limited, I’ll name just a few:-

•  reduce body weight, and the body’s overall fat percentage,
•  improve cardiovascular fitness (stamina) I
•  improve body posture, as muscles become toned.
•  guard against onset of coronary artery disease.
•  improve self-confidence and self-esteem
