St Nicholas Christmas Fayre

Saturday 9th December

2 – 4pm in the Community Hall

It may be only September and Christmas feels a long way off, but it’s the time of year when fruits and vegetables are turned into delicious fare. As we are hoping to expand the home produce stall this year, if you are making any chutneys, jams, pickles or preserves please make a few extra for the Fayre. They will be greatly appreciated.

Local Christmas gift or craft sellers will be able to book a table at the Fayre to sell their wares for £10 plus a donation to the raffle.

Please contact Christian Dryden 720398 or Andrea Hulme 720347 for further information

Latest news from Kidz Zone youth club

A lot is happening : new equipment has generously been donated; the first activity outside the village –10 pin bowling - has taken place; and a Kidz Zone logo and website are being designed.

More new equipment

Kidz Zone now has a football table, generously donated by Jonathan Evans, for which the members are most grateful. Jonathan has also thrown down a challenge to Club members to invite him along to give him a game some day –any takers?

Also, Steve and Elaine Mancini of The Cricketers have very generously given a further gift to the Club of £50 from proceeds of the Hog Roast in July. Thank you –it will soon take the shape of another piece of Club equipment –perhaps the Giant Jenga which is on our wish list?

Bowled Over

The Club’s first outing proved a great night out on 9 August - going 10-Pin Bowling at Newbury. Apart from enjoying themselves by chatting and joking there were some good bowling performances from the 12 players –Elliot Burns held the lead score for quite a while but was overtaken by Harriet Raynsford, with the highest score of 110. Emma Lewis excelled with first strike and Lauren Mancini too, with the first spare. All three received an unexpected chocolate-bar prize for their performances.

For just the lane fee of £4 each the Kidz Zone Club Members were dropped to the door at Newbury Superbowl, accompanied by Kidz Zone club leaders. They returned to the Village Hall on the Test Valley Community Services minibus, the cost of which was subsidised by the Club.

What do we want?

A poll amongst bowlers voted to go 10-pin bowling again and asked for future outings to ice skating, go-karting, laser quest and horse-riding to be considered. If there are other activities you’d like to do, then let the Club leaders know.

Watch out for the Kidz Zone website

A website is being designed, accessed from the Longparish website, and will be up and running soon. It will have latest information on activities and events and may also have a forum where you can post your views and suggestions –let us know at Club night if you’d like a forum and watch this space for more news.

The dates for September Kidz Zone club nights are Wednesdays 6th and 20th of September at the Village Hall. Come along at 7:00 p.m. for a great time
