On November 16th at Daphne’s Bevan’s home we were only a few members in number but what an insight we were given by the speaker, Olivia Henry, on the Probation Service.
Olivia covered a wide range of different categories which make up the Probation Service ending her talk on her own particular subject, which is a most interesting occupation, a worthy but I feel sure at times a distressing job. Thank you, Olivia. I for one came away from the evening with a new-found respect for Probation Officers and the work they do to help offenders, their victims and the general population to live in a safer environment.
Our next meeting is at Gwen Thomas’s home (Beeches, Picket Twenty) on the 7th December for 7:30pm. Gwen will be talking on Kibbutz Dalya and its history. There will be no raffle on the night but please can attending members bring a Christmas card and a wrapped gift so we can exchange the gifts between each other by drawing numbers out of a hat. Mince pies and sherry will be served along with the usual tea or coffee.
Looking ahead to 2007 our first meeting in the New Year will be our annual Supper Party on the 18th January in the Village Hall. Gwen Thomas
