The Parish Council voted unanimously last night to pursue this community project.

Following weeks of intense preparation, the Parish Council's Plough Committee presented a full Report to the Council at last night's meeting, setting out the steps that had been taken towards purchase of The Plough and the long lease of the premises to the community benefit society Longparish Community Pub Limited.

The Committee recommended that the Council authorise the purchase and subsequent lease of The Plough to provide a long-term community asset for the village, and the Council unanimously agreed the proposal and associated resolutions to complete the legal process.

Full details will be available in the Council Minutes in due course - in the meantime Councillors are preparing to sign the contracts and associated documents in preparation for exchange of contracts, with completion planned for Friday 29 January. If all goes to plan, the village will own The Plough by the end of the month.

We are delighted to have come so far in the spirit of shared community ambition, and following the recommendations of the National Association of Local Councils to "work with residents and your partners to ambitiously shape the future development of your place".

We look forward to sharing with you, our community, the benefits of a village pub and hub before too long.
